May Mobility, a developer of autonomous shuttle services, has launched its first driverless service on public roads, beginning in Sun City, Arizona. The service will be offered free to early riders between various established stops.
The service uses May Mobility's proprietary Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology, which runs real-time on-board simulations to analyze and choose the safest scenario every second. The software will be retrofitted to Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS vehicles.
May Mobility plans to expand its driverless service, leveraging customer feedback to enhance safety and tailor autonomous vehicles to meet specific transportation needs in collaboration with cities, transit agencies, and government entities.
Analyst QuickTake: May Mobility launched an autonomous shuttle service with safety drivers in Sun City in April 2023 , focusing on providing on-demand public transit services to the retirement community—which we believe helped the company gather insights for a smooth transition to driverless operations.
