Aeva, a developer of sensory and perception systems, has announced the launch of Aeva Atlas, a 4D LiDAR sensor designed for mass production in the automotive industry to enable vehicles to detect far-away objects with high certainty.
Aeva Atlas has several main features powered by Aeva's proprietary silicon technology. This includes the Aeva CoreVision, a next-generation LiDAR-on-chip module, and the Aeva X1, a powerful system-on-chip lidar processor. These components reportedly make it possible for the Aeva Atlas to be 70% smaller and 4x more energy-efficient than the company’s previous LiDAR solutions, offering better performance and detection range.
Moreover, this LiDAR sensor also offers advanced perception capabilities through its software without any need for additional sensors, including unique advantages over conventional time-of-flight 3D LiDAR sensors. These include improvements in the detection of road hazards, dynamic objects, and pedestrians.
