Aeva launches 4D LiDAR sensor for automotive applications 'Atlas'

Product updates

  • Aeva, a developer of sensory and perception systems, has announced the launch of Aeva Atlas, a 4D LiDAR sensor designed for mass production in the automotive industry to enable vehicles to detect far-away objects with high certainty.

  • Aeva Atlas has several main features powered by Aeva's proprietary silicon technology. This includes the Aeva CoreVision, a next-generation LiDAR-on-chip module, and the Aeva X1, a powerful system-on-chip lidar processor. These components reportedly make it possible for the Aeva Atlas to be 70% smaller and 4x more energy-efficient than the company’s previous LiDAR solutions, offering better performance and detection range.

  • Moreover, this LiDAR sensor also offers advanced perception capabilities through its software without any need for additional sensors, including unique advantages over conventional time-of-flight 3D LiDAR sensors. These include improvements in the detection of road hazards, dynamic objects, and pedestrians.
