Bear Robotics and SoftBank Robotics Group (a robotics manufacturer and solutions provider and key investor in Bear Robotics) have collaborated on creating and releasing the robot waiter “Servi”, which is a newer version of Bear Robotics’ “Penny”.
The severbot comes in two models, Servi (a high capacity, multi-purpose model), and Servi Mini (ideal for drink delivery and bussing). Upgrades from the previous “Penny” version include improved agility, enhanced obstacle-avoidance technology, and personalization capabilities (ex: voice interaction, and singing).
The product is high in demand in the primary markets of the US, Japan, and South Korea. In the US Servi is currently deployed at Amici's Pizza; the Google campus in Silicon Valley; The Gardens Casino and the Boathouse Asian Eatery at The Graton Resort & Casino; senior living communities in several states; ghost kitchens in California. It is also in use at various other restaurants and cafes in Tokyo and Seoul.
SoftBank also announced plans to deploy Servi bots at more than 100 restaurants in Japan, including 200+ Denny’s diners and Yakiniku King (a barbecue chain).
