Primobius, a Germany-based battery recycling company, has received a purchase order (PO) for a hydrometallurgical refinery plant from Mercedes-Benz to complete its lithium-ion battery recycling facility, currently under construction, in Kuppenheim, Germany.
The PO valued at ~EUR 18.8 million (~USD 20.6 million) covers fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the plant, which will refine intermediate products from the 2,500 ton per annum shredding spoke .
Analyst QuickTake: The PO marks the completion of Primobius' contractual arrangements for the construction of the Mercedes pilot plant. The company initially entered into a cooperation agreement with LICULAR, a recycling subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, in May 2022 and received its first PO in August 2023 .
