Dexterity, a developer of robots for logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations, has partnered with Sagawa Express, a Japanese delivery service, to deploy AI-powered truck-loading robots to handle parcels amid the labor shortage in the industry.
Initially, Sagawa will utilize Dexterity's AI platform to educate it on the company's logistical operations before fully integrating the company's dual-arm robot, “DexR,” into its existing infrastructure. Once operational, DexR will undertake the task of loading trucks with boxes.
Analyst QuickTake: Today’s partnership not only adds to the list of Dexterity's deployments but reinforces its existing ties with Sumitomo, a trading company in Japan, with which the company entered into a distribution partnership in September 2022 to deploy 1,500 robots in Japanese warehouses by 2026.
