Impulse Space is expanding its product line with Helios, a high-energy kick stage, claimed to offer cheaper and more time-efficient transportation to geosynchronous orbit (GEO) than current alternatives.
The Helios kick stage is engineered to transport payloads of up to five tons from low-Earth orbit directly to GEO in under 24 hours, eliminating the need to spend months in the geostationary transfer orbit before reaching GEO.
Key features of the Helios include cryogenic propellants, like liquid oxygen and liquid methane that claim to be cheap and environmentally friendly. Further, the in-built high-energy stage and its compatibility with existing medium-lift launch vehicles opens up opportunities for varied missions, from GEO to lunar or solar orbits and the Lagrange points.
