The Mediterranean Food Lab raises USD 17 million in Series A funding to boost production

Funding

  • The Mediterranean Food Lab (MFL), an Israeli firm developing fermented flavors for plant-based foods, has raised USD 17 million in a Series A funding round led by Gullspång Re:food, with participation from PeakBridge, Arancia International, FoodBridge, and others.

  • The funds will be utilized to boost its industrial production and set up a sales team to promote its products to foodservice and CPG companies.

  • MFL, founded in 2019, has developed a flavor-crafting platform using a unique mix of culinary expertise, microbial science, and AI. This platform leverages solid-state fermentation to create natural flavors for various food applications from ingredients like grains, legumes, and upcycled farm waste.
