Meta has suspended its rumored partnership with Tencent, which was aimed at launching a low-cost version of its Quest 3 headset, the Quest 3 Lite, in China.
The partnership has been put on hold allegedly due to internal disagreements, postponing the release of the entry-level VR headset in China. Meta was looking at profiting from hardware sales of the headset, while Tencent was to benefit from content and service revenues. The endeavor was penned for a release toward the end of 2024.
