Krutrim, an Indian developer of foundation models and related infrastructure, raised USD 50 million in an equity round, with participation from Matrix Partners and others, at a valuation of USD 1 billion.
The funds will be used to expand global reach and drive AI innovation.
Moreover, the company will release Krutrim Pro, a multimodal large language model (MLLM), with an expected beta release in February 2024.
Based in India, Krutrim develops AI computing stacks and foundation models tailored for the Indian market with multiple Indian languages. Its model is claimed to have the broadest representation of Indian data in its training. Last year, the company raised around USD 24 million through the issuance of debenture.
