US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced plans to compel US cloud companies to disclose instances when foreign entities utilize their cloud services to train large language models (LLMs) for AI applications detecting potential malicious cyber activities.
The announcement comes amidst the US’ aims to tighten regulations on cloud services, given fears that Chinese companies could exploit cloud platforms to circumvent semiconductor restrictions. The US is also considering export controls to limit China's access to computing power.
