UOBO, a Barcelona-based egg alternative startup, has launched a new liquid plant-based egg for the foodservice industry in Spain.
UOBO's plant-based egg comes in a one-liter bottle and claims to replace traditional eggs in various recipes, including omelets, scrambled eggs, pastries, custards, and mayonnaise.
Founded in 2021, UOBO produces plant-based eggs by applying precision fermentation to ovalbumin (the dominant protein in egg white) production. The company is targeting the HORECA (hotel/restaurant/café) channel and claims to have received over 40 inquiries from interested restaurants, caterers, and distributors.
