LettUs Grow, an aeroponic container farming company, along with Fotenix, Rothamsted Research, Crop Health and Protection (CHAP), and Vertically Urban, have been awarded GBP 757,151 (~USD 954,000) in funding for a Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) project. The funding comes from the 2023 Novel Low Emission Food Production Systems competition, backed by Innovate UK and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
The project will use an integrated spectral imaging system coupled with an AI-based plant screening technology developed by Fotenix to measure plant physiology. The data would highlight light intensity, composition, and energy management through the Ostara software platform developed by LettUs Grow.
