Canadian quantum annealing developer D-Wave Quantum has entered a strategic agreement with Massachusetts-based quantum software company Zapata to combine GenAI and quantum computing technologies to develop commercial applications.
The collaboration will use quantum-enabled machine learning algorithms to develop applications to make D-Wave's quantum technologies, which can perform coherent quantum annealing with over 5,000 qubits, which exceeds the capabilities of current traditional computers. The partnership will initially focus on creating quantum GenAI models that speed up the new molecules' discovery process.
In addition, Zapata will gain access to D-Wave's Advantage quantum computing systems and other resources to expedite commercial application creation and provide the necessary resources to deliver these applications to Zapata's customers.
