Joby Aviation to launch eVTOL air taxi rides in UAE

Geographic expansion

  • Joby Aviation, an NYSE-listed eVTOL developer, has entered a definitive agreement with Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to launch air taxi services in the UAE.

  • The company plans initial operations in 2025, followed by commercial air taxi operations in early 2026. This agreement provides Joby with exclusive rights to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years.

  • In addition, Joby signed an agreement with Skyports, a UK-based air taxi and drone logistics company to design, build, and operate four initial vertiport sites across Dubai. Joby, together with RTA and Skyports, has identified the Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Downtown as initial air taxi locations to launch its services.
