Videon Central, a provider of video-centric edge computing solutions, raised USD 7.3 million in a Series A funding round led by Voyager Capital with the participation of Arnold Venture Group and Bruce Chizen.
The funds will be invested in expanding its senior leadership, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to expand its operations and global customer base.
Along with the funding, former Microsoft and Akamai executive Rob Greene was appointed as its CEO. Greene is tasked with driving the expansion plans and building new partnerships.
Videon Central, formerly a DVD, set-top-box, and inflight entertainment technology company, offers unified hardware and software video-centric edge computing solutions. Videon offers an on-chip video processing solution for ultra-low latency, high-resolution, and high-performance video streaming. It essentially minimizes the complexity of getting live video from the source to audiences by enhancing processors (such as Qualcomm Snapdragon chips) to process the videos at the source.
