Orkes, a startup providing enterprise-grade microservices platform built on an open-source project, Conductor, has secured USD 20 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors such as Battery Ventures and Vertex Ventures US.
The company plans to use the newly raised capital to continue supporting and maintaining Conductor. It also intends to launch a Conductor Foundation, possibly in collaboration with a larger foundation in the future.
Orkes took over the maintenance of Conductor, initially developed at Netflix, when the latter stopped supporting it. Several companies, including Tesla, United Wholesale Mortgage, and Foxtel, rely heavily on Conductor to manage their tech infrastructure. Orkes additionally provides a Conductor-based AI orchestration platform and a fully managed Conductor on the clients' preferred cloud.
