Cyclize, a German climate tech startup that recycles plastic waste, has raised EUR 4.75 million in seed funding. UVC Partners led the investment round with added contributions from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Aurum Impact, UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators, and other angel investors.
The funds will facilitate the scaling of Cyclize's technology, which uses a plasma-based process to produce synthesis gas via carbon recycling of plastic waste and CO2, and its implementation on an industrial scale. The company will also carry out a series of tests with pilot customers. Cylize also plans to construct and operate a waste-to-synthesis gas plant demonstrating its industry applicability.
Cyclize is a spin-off of the University of Stuttgart, and its synthesis gas product, which transforms plastic waste, is commonly used in producing various chemicals and materials. The startup has also secured support from the EXIST Research Transfer program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) since 2022.
