Samsung announces upcoming XR headset at MWC 2024

Product updates

  • Samsung revealed its upcoming headset, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, at the MWC 2024. Pricing for the headset remained undisclosed and it is expected to be launched in 2025.

  • The headset is expected to come with a microOLED display, eight tracking cameras, a ToF sensor, eye- and hand-tracking capabilities, and support for voice commands. The product is also assumed to integrate Qualcomm’s recently developed XR2+ Gen 2 platform, hinting toward a high-performance product.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Samsung reportedly created the "Immersive Team" for the development of its XR headset, which employed ~100 individuals and had plans to expand its team. Additionally, the headset launch will mark Samsung’s return into the XR headset space, having previously launched the HMD Odyssey+ ( 2018 ) and the HMD Odyssey ( 2017 ) VR headsets.
