Zama, a blockchain-based encryption solutions provider, has raised USD 73 million in a Series A funding round led by Multicoin Capital and Protocol Labs, with participation from Metaplanet, Blockchange, VSquared, Stake Capital, and Portal Ventures. This latest funding brings Zama's total funding to USD 81 million and reportedly gives it a valuation between USD 300 million–400 million.
Zama plans to allocate the newly raised funds toward further research and development efforts and the expansion of its engineering team, which currently consists of 75 members.
Zama offers a suite of open-source fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) libraries and solutions that enable developers to build applications that deliver end-to-end encryption for end-users. Developers can leverage the company’s “fhEVM” solution to create confidential on-chain applications in Solidity via smart contracts. Moreover, the solution can be integrated into any EVM-compatible chain and provides encryption across the transaction lifecycle.
