Elon Musk's xAI has open-sourced the foundational code of its Grok AI model, though it has excluded the training code. The model, licensed under Apache License 2.0, does not serve a specific purpose or application.
Grok-1, as the model is referred to, has reportedly been trained on a uniquely formed stack. It is described as the "314 billion parameter Mixture-of-Expert model." The open-source version, notably, does not include connectivity to the social network "X" unlike the chatbot version, which was released last year for Premium+ users of the network.
xAI asserts that this open release will assist developers and researchers in working on the model, thereby influencing its future updates
