LeddarTech and Renesas Electronics enter licensing agreement for SoC product commercialization

Partnerships

  • LeddarTech, an AI-based automotive software company, has entered a licensing deal with semiconductor company Renesas Electronics America to commercialize its “LCA2” and “LCA3” system-on-chip (SoC) products.

  • The companies will create programmable SoC products, using LeddarTech's LiDAR software with AI-based low-level fusion and perception. This will be pitched toward OEMs and tier 1–2 suppliers for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) functions.

  • The agreement is part of LeddarTech's shift toward a pure-play automotive software company, with Renesas being one of its major licensees in this transition.

  • Analyst QuickTake: LeddarTech announced plans to move away from its LiDAR hardware component business and focus on software development in November 2022. We believe today’s licensing agreement will help the company maximize the value of foundational solid-state LiDAR technology assets.
