Meteomatics, a Switzerland-based short-term weather intelligence company, has partnered strategically with NVIDIA to deliver AI-based real-time weather forecasts within a 90 m radius.
The companies will conduct initial pilots with three energy companies, ENGIE, Louis Dreyfus Company, and TotalEnergies, to test their ability to deliver weather forecasts within minutes rather than hours.
Meteomatics uses its physics-based weather models to deliver hyper-local weather forecasts hours before weather events. By leveraging NVIDIA's cloud APIs, the company can deliver AI-based weather forecasts in minutes.
In addition, Meteomatics will open its AI-powered weather data delivery service to the broader business community, with an immediate focus on renewable energy forecasting, related insurance, and trading.
Analyst QuickTake: This collaboration with NVIDIA came after Meteomatics secured an undisclosed strategic investment from Lockheed Martin Ventures last month. The funds will be used to scale its high-resolution weather and climate technology, expand into new industries such as energy, aviation, insurance, defense, and government, and enter new markets.
