EHang to establish Japan’s first UAM center

Partnerships
Geographic expansion

  • EHang, a leading autonomous aerial vehicle technology company, has established Japan's first urban air mobility (UAM) center in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

  • This facility serves as a demonstration flight site, ground infrastructure, and maintenance base for the company’s various pilotless eVTOL aircraft in the region, including the EH216-S.

  • The development of the UAM Center was supported by a strategic collaboration between EHang and AirX, a Japanese developer of digital air mobility platforms. Tsukuba Airlines also supported the development. The new center, which will be used by helicopters and eVTOLs, includes a landing area of approximately 30,000 sq m and can accommodate hangars with a capacity of approximately 25 units of EH216-S aircraft.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The company has expanded its presence in the global market. As of March 2024, EHang’s EH216-S pilotless aircraft has conducted flights in 12 cities in Japan, demonstrating its versatility in various use cases, including aerial sightseeing, island transportation, air logistics, and emergency services.
