Clean Food Group raises GBP 2.5 million to launch alternative for palm oil

Funding

  • Clean Food Group (CFG), a UK-based food technology company, has secured GBP 2.5 million (~USD 3.16 million) from the Clean Growth Fund to accelerate the commercial launch of its non-GMO yeast-based palm oil alternative by 2025.

  • The company claims this alternative is a drop-in replacement to high-oleic palm oil and is suitable for baked goods, confectionery, and cosmetic applications. CFG expects to release the product in the UK and EU markets initially as the regulations for non-GMO products are much lax than those for genetically modified products.
