Aquafil, a nylon materials producer has partnered with Maserati to feature fabric seat inserts made of Econyl in Maserati's new electric vehicle, the Grecale Folgore SUV.
Aquafil claims that Econyl is an endlessly recyclable material made using regenerated nylon from chemically recycled waste. This sustainable material gives the SUV seat inserts a distinctive, highly opaque appearance.
Aquafil also claims that manufacturing Econyl will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 50% compared to petroleum-based nylon, and the company aims to reuse nylon infinitely, eliminating the need for virgin materials.
