Agronomics, a VC firm focused on cellular agriculture and biomanufacturing, has invested USD 10 million in biomanufacturing company Liberation Labs. This was part of a USD 12.5 million funding round, which also saw participation from existing investor Siddhi Capital, bringing the total raised by the company to USD 33.5 million, with additional non-dilutive funding commitments of USD 55 million.
The fresh capital will be used for the ongoing construction of Liberation Labs' Bio3 manufacturing platform in Richmond, Indiana. The platform is now halfway through its construction schedule and slated to be operational by Q1 2025, pending the finalization of its Series A fundraising round.
Liberation Labs, founded in 2022, aims to resolve bottlenecks in novel protein manufacturing and become a preferred fabrication partner in the industrial biotechnology sector. Its operations revolve around the Bio3 platform, targeting fermentation companies, and offers a capacity of 600,000 l, expandable to an additional 4 million liters.
