xAI expands Grok access to premium X subscribers

Product updates

  • xAI has expanded its Grok chatbot access to the social network X's premium tier subscribers, a monthly service costing USD 8. Initially, this service was only offered to Premium+ users who paid USD 16 per month or USD 168 per year.

  • The AI chatbot is known for its unique responses, including support for transgender rights and denouncing racist conspiracy theories. Musk plans to introduce modifications to Grok for it to deliver responses that are "normal," "fun," and "unhinged."

  • Analyst QuickTake: Grok aims to compete with other AI technologies from large corporations, including OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. By launching Grok, Musk intends to present an AI chatbot that offers responses that are "funny" and "politically neutral," distinct from others on the market. The company also has plans for a "Super Grok" for premium plus subscribers.
