Stability AI has introduced Stable LM 2 12B, a base and instruction-tuned model with 12 billion parameters trained in seven languages including English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, and Dutch.

The product aims to streamline AI language technology across multiple platforms. Additionally, the model is designed to perform multilingual tasks and can manage tasks usually reserved for larger models without needing extensive computational resources.

Furthermore, the Stable LM 2 1.6B model was updated to improve its conversational skills in all seven languages and incorporate tool usage and function calling. 

The models are available in Hugging Face for non-commercial and commercial use, with the latter requiring a Stability AI Membership.
