EigenLayer, the company behind the EigenLayer protocol, has launched its service on the Ethereum blockchain's mainnet.
The solution will enable users to leverage staked Ethereum (ETH) to secure auxiliary networks, also known as actively validated services (AVS). These can include blockchain-based services such as bridges, exchanges, and pricing oracles. However, certain features like in-protocol payments and "slashing" (a form of penalty for malicious actions) will not be included in the initial launch and are planned for later in the year.
The company also announced the launch of the first AVS, EigenDA, a data-storage service that enables other blockchain protocols to store transaction data and other information.
