Google adds Kubernetes Engine to its distributed cloud platform

Product updates

  • Google has integrated Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) into its Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) platform, allowing the deployment of IT infrastructure setups on any cloud. According to the company, this provides greater flexibility and relieves the cognitive load on developers, enabling more efficient cloud-native application development.

  • GKE's integration with GDC simplifies centralized management of cloud-native applications running on Kubernetes clusters. The solution has two aspects of focus: 1) Cloud Run, a platform that simplifies the build and deployment of container-based applications without needing Kubernetes orchestration capabilities, and 2) GKE, used for more complex applications requiring orchestration by a platform engineering team.
