Rokid announced the AR Lite, which brings together the Rokid Max 2 AR glasses and the Rokid Station 2 host unit. The pricing and availability details are yet to be announced, with the company intending to raise funds for the product through a Kickstarter campaign.
The Rokid Max 2 AR glasses weigh 75 g, with an adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD), minimizing the need for corrective lenses. The Rokid Station 2 host unit features an aluminum frame and operates on a Qualcomm-optimized Snapdragon platform for graphics rendering and AI calculations. It relies on one-, two- and three-finger touch controls.
The Max 2 and Station 2 combination allows for a multiscreen mode, where users can anchor multiple virtual displays (300 in) in physical space. The “Motion Mode” provides increased image stabilization, allowing users to use the AR glasses while traveling without experiencing motion sickness.
Analyst QuickTake: The AR Lite aligns with Rokid’s plans to build out spatial computing capabilities for its AR glasses, for which the company raised USD 71 million in funding in January 2024. Notably, mixed reality (or spatial computing) devices have seen a revival in investor interest following the debut of Apple’s Vision Pro headset, which prominently featured such capabilities.
