Department of Homeland Security launches new AI Safety and Security Board to guide AI usage

Product updates

  • The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the formation of an Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board meant to oversee the use of AI within US critical infrastructure. The board includes key figures from tech firms, critical infrastructure entities, academia, government agencies, and civil rights communities.

  • The board's main responsibilities will be to develop recommendations and strategies for the safe and responsible use of AI. Its members are expected to not only provide security guidance but also generate insights into the potential risks posed by AI.

  • This effort is part of broader efforts by the DHS to provide complete oversight of AI deployment in the US.
