Lunar, a Danish neobank offering banking services to individuals and businesses via a mobile app, raised EUR 24.1 million (~USD 25.7 million) in a funding round with participation from its existing investors. The company's total funds raised now stand at USD 510 million.
The funds will bolster Lunar’s capital position and expand its services across the Nordics. Additionally, the company is preparing to expand its services in Sweden to a full-service bank.
This funding comes after Lunar failed to acquire local lender Instabank for EUR 132 million (~USD 140.7 million) in 2022 due to its inability to meet the capital requirements. As a result, legal proceedings followed, and Lunar is currently reinforcing its capital while awaiting the next steps.
