WSO2, a company known for its API management and identity and access management services, has been acquired by Swedish investment giant EQT. WSO2 was valued at over USD 600 million, with EQT obtaining a majority stake. The deal is expected to conclude in the second half of 2024.
WSO2 offers a product range that includes an open-source API manager for building and integrating digital services on the cloud or on-site. The company also provides API management for Kubernetes and its eminent Identity Server, which businesses use to manage identity and access features in their applications.
Post-acquisition, EQT plans to leverage WSO2's global customer base and robust security infrastructure driven by cloud computing and AI. EQT believes WSO2 is well-positioned to capitalize on long-term trends such as digital transformation and the rise of GenAI adoption.
