SpaceX, a space travel and launch company, has unveiled spacesuits designed for extravehicular activity (EVA) during spaceflights. These suits are an upgrade on the current pressure suits and offer upgrades for enhanced mobility and thermal management.
These spacesuits are supplied with life-supporting umbilicals and include refined joint designs that remain flexible until pressurized, better thermal regulation systems, a redeveloped helmet equipped with a sun visor-like exterior coating, and an in-built camera and heads-up display that offers real-time stats on the suit’s performance during spacewalks.
SpaceX reports that these EVA suits will be worn by the four crew members for their upcoming Polaris Dawn mission. The performance of these innovative EVA suits will be tested throughout the mission.
