Botanix Labs, a Bitcoin layer-2 infrastructure provider, has secured USD 8.5 million in seed funding from Polychain Capital, Placeholder Capital, Valor Equity Partners, and ABCDE, among several others. This round brings the company's total funding to USD 11.5 million.
The company plans to use the funding to expand its team and further develop its product offering, namely its Bitcoin-native layer-2 network.
Botanix Labs offers Spiderchain, a Bitcoin layer-2 network that enables developers to run Ethereum applications natively on Bitcoin. The network achieves this by leveraging a series of randomized multi-signature wallets to secure funds from the Bitcoin base layer. Users can also withdraw from centralized crypto exchanges such as Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken to a DeFI wallet connected to a layer-2 network like MetaMask without using wrapped tokens or leaving the Bitcoin network.
