Cloud services and security firm Akamai has acquired API protection startup Noname Security for USD 450 million, a steep discount compared to the USD 1 billion valuation during its latest funding round.
Noname, founded in 2020, has developed a platform that analyzes API configuration, traffic, and code to surface all kinds of vulnerabilities and claims to be the first API security startup to achieve unicorn status.
The acquisition will allow Akamai to expand its existing API security solution and scale its sales and marketing resources. The combined solution will offer a complete suite covering shadow APIs, vulnerability, and attack detection.
