At the I/O 2024 conference, Google introduced several updated features, such as protection against scam calls, Ask Photos, Gemini Nano integration to Chrome desktop, and AI capabilities to Google Maps.

The company previewed a feature designed to protect users against scam calls, which will be built into Android. The service, utilizing the Gemini Nano model, alerts users to potential scams during a call by analyzing real-time conversation patterns commonly associated with scams. 

" Ask Photos" is a feature that enhances users’ search experience of photos by allowing natural language queries to sift through their photo collections in Google Photos. The Gemini AI model powers this solution.

Google introduced Gemini Nano model to its Chrome desktop client from Chrome 126 version onwards. The Gemini Nano will power Chrome tools like the "help me write" feature in Gmail's Workspace Lab. Additionally, Google plans to provide high-level APIs in Chrome that can translate, caption, and transcribe text using its Gemini models.

Google has introduced Gemini model capabilities to the Google Maps Platform for developers. The service is aimed at showing GenAI summaries of places and regions within developers' applications and websites.
