Polythene UK, a company that produces eco-friendly polythene packaging, has initiated a free mobile scheme that aims to collect and recycle waste polythene.
The recycling scheme relies on a van that travels to business locations and is equipped with a compactor. The collected waste is compacted and bailed inside the van to be recycled into new plastic wrapping. The company reports several businesses participating in the scheme, including a SPAR retailer.
Analyst QuickTake : While larger companies have recycling schemes in place, Polythene UK targets smaller businesses that may not have access to similar services, despite cumulatively generating a sizable amount of polythene waste. The company’s solution aims to address ~800,000 tons of polythene waste claimed to end up in landfills or incinerators annually in the UK.
