Oishii opens solar-powered vertical strawberry farm in New Jersey

Product updates

  • Oishii, a vertical farming company specializing in Japanese Omakase strawberries, has launched Amatelas Farm, a 237,000 sq ft solar-powered vertical strawberry farm in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

  • Amatelas Farm grows Oishii's Koyo strawberries on movable rack mechanisms, allowing natural day-night cycles. The strawberries are grown primarily using solar energy, sourced from an adjacent solar field. The farm also utilizes LED lights and a water purification system incorporating advanced robotics and machine-learning tools to optimize berry ripening and harvesting.

  • Oishii claims that Amatelas Farm can produce 20x more berries than its previous facilities.
