Blackmagic launches URSA Cine Immersive camera for Vision Pro content creation

Product updates

  • Blackmagic has launched the URSA Cine Immersive, a camera designed for creating content for Apple's Vision Pro headset, which is targeted at professional cinematographers.

  • The camera will allow cinematographers to shoot 90 frames per second (FPS) stereoscopic 3D video, delivering an 8,160 x 7,200 resolution per eye with pixel-level synchronization. It also integrates with DaVinci Resolve for editing and monitoring, exports native Vision Pro video files, and is drone-ready for aerial shots.

  • Further, the company claims that the camera is the world’s first commercial system designed to capture Apple Immersive Video (a storytelling format that utilizes 8K 3D video with spatial audio).

  • Analyst QuickTake: While pricing details remain undisclosed, it may be similar to its recently released URSA Cine 12K camera, which is priced at USD 15,000. The news also follows Canon announcing a spatial lens for its EOS R7 camera, which is tailored specifically to capture content for Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
