South Korean AI chip developers Rebellions and Sapeon Korea are set to merge, as announced by SK Telecom Co., Sapeon's parent company.
The merger aims to significantly impact the global AI semiconductor market within two to three years, with a focus on neural processing units used in AI. Under Rebellions' management, the consolidated firm plans to be fully operational by the end of the year.
Rebellions Inc. is recognized for its ATOM chip, which became the first neural processing unit (NPU) from South Korea to be utilized in a data center for LLMs. Sapeon Korea Inc., on the other hand, made headlines for its next-generation X330 AI chip, which was released last year.
