Mycorena discontinues Swedish factory project; shifts focus to circular production model

Product updates

  • Mycorena, a Swedish alternative protein producer, has discontinued its planned factory project in Sweden for Promyc, its principal mycoprotein ingredient. The company claims that a market shift and decreased investor interest in high-capital investment projects have led to this decision.

  • Mycorena will now shift its focus to a B2B2C approach, utilizing a sustainable circular upcycling production model by capitalizing on its Gothenburg demo plant's capacity, maintaining existing collaborations, and searching for new opportunities with private brands and foodservice entities. The company expects the Gothenburg plant will produce enough mycoprotein ingredients for up to 500 tons of consumer products.
