USSF chooses Blue Origin, SpaceX, and ULA for ~USD 5.6 billion Pentagon launch contracts

Industry news
Partnerships

  • The Pentagon announced on June 13 that the US Space Force (USSF) selected Blue Origin, SpaceX, and ULA for the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 3 launch services. The five-year contracts will span between 2025 and 2029.

  • The NSSL Phase 3 contract marks a key milestone for Blue Origin as its first selection to launch national security satellites. While Blue Origin did compete for the Phase 2 contract in 2019, it was unsuccessful in securing the contract.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Blue Origin was also awarded a ~USD 18 million contract from the USSF in January 2024 to assess the capabilities of its New Glenn rocket. In March 2024 , the company also reported plans to launch its first lunar lander in 2025.
