Apple reportedly focuses on cheaper Vision Pro headset launch amid slowing sales

Industry news

  • According to The Information, Apple has reportedly shifted its focus away from developing a new high-end Vision Pro headset due to sluggish sales of the existing Vision Pro. Instead, the company is exploring ways to reduce component costs for the current model and working on a more affordable Vision headset, codenamed "N109," aimed for release by the end of 2025.

  • The cheaper Vision headset is expected to retain the Vision Pro's high-resolution displays but with fewer features and a weight reduction of at least one-third. Apple is targeting a price range aligned with high-end iPhones, potentially between USD 1,500 and USD 2,500. However, the company has faced challenges in cutting costs without compromising too much on features, potentially delaying the 2025 launch target.
