SkyDrive receives FAA Type Certification for the US

Regulation/policy

  • SkyDrive, a Japanese developer of eVTOL and heavy-lift cargo drones, announced that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) accepted its Type Certification application on April 28, 2024, submitted through Japan's Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB). This enables SkyDrive to offer its SD-05 eVTOL aircraft for commercial use in the US.

  • To achieve its goal of expanding to the US, SkyDrive established a US-based subsidiary in 2023 and is planning future partnerships with US customers. SkyDrive also expects JCAB Type Certification by 2026, after which it plans to launch its eVTOL to the Japanese market.
