Canon launches plastic sorting equipment leveraging spectroscopy technology

Product updates

  • Canon, a global manufacturer of imaging and optics products, has announced the launch of the Canon TR-S1510 sorting solution. Canon reports the solution is designed to quickly and accurately identify and sort different materials, particularly various plastics.

  • The TR-S1510 utilizes Raman Spectroscopy technology with a tracking mechanism to detect various materials and their vibrational energy modes. The device is particularly adept at identifying black plastics, often used in home electronics, which are usually challenging to detect due to their lack of visible light reflection.
