Meta launches accelerator to help users develop lifestyle apps for Quest 3

Product updates

  • Meta announced the launch of the Quest Lifestyle App Accelerator, which aims to support app development for Quest 3. This will allow users to create applications in categories such as fashion, design, cooking, DIY, music, arts and crafts, and more.

  • Selected developers will receive seed-stage grant funding to build a prototype, alongside mentoring and coaching from Meta, peer learning opportunities, introduction to venture capitalists, and Quest 3 development kits.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The news will help Meta broaden the availability of apps for its Quest 3 headsets, which have primarily focused on gaming and enterprise applications. The announcement also comes in light of Apple’s rapid expansion of its app ecosystem for the Vision Pro headset, which rose to roughly 2,000 apps in June 2024 from 1,000 in February 2024.
