Meta announced restructuring its Reality Labs division to focus on its XR and metaverse products. Reality Labs will now be split into "Metaverse" and “Wearables."
The Metaverse group will include Meta's Quest XR headset business, the Horizon OS platform, and the Horizon Worlds virtual world. The Wearables group will include products incorporating Meta’s AI assistant, such as its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
As part of the restructuring, Meta has laid off a few employees within Reality Labs, primarily in leadership roles that became redundant due to the new organizational structure. Meta aims to create a more integrated product experience with less fragmentation across hardware, software, and experiences.
