Cerence and Volkswagen roll-out of new generative AI solutions to drivers

Partnerships

  • Cerence, a developer of AI-based voice assistant technology for automobiles, has partnered with Volkswagen to deploy Cerence Chat Pro, an automotive-grade ChatGPT integration to Volkswagen's European lineup of vehicle models via a cloud update. The partnership was initially announced in January 2024 .

  • The cloud update integrates Cerence Chat Pro with Volkswagen’s IDA in-car voice assistant, enabling drivers to engage with the assistant conversationally and receive responses to queries. The integrated solution is available in five languages (English (US), English (UK), German, Spanish, and Czech) for Volkswagen Group brands, including Volkswagen, Cupra, Seat, and Škoda.

  • The company plans to launch the solution in the US in 2024 and continue the rollout globally through 2025 with plans for new features and improvements.
